To win you must…. stop competing? How so?

To win you must…. stop competing? How so?

I guess you could say I have always had a competitive streak. I wanted to win at everything I did, from playing a simple card game with my sister to getting the highest score on a test in school. To me, winning equaled success. It meant being the best. It meant competing in all areas of my life and coming out victorious over all the others. I was relentless in my pursuit of—and determination for—victory. Winning was everything to me.

And then, as the victim of horrific bullying in middle school, my competitive streak got worse. I acquired a chip on my shoulder. I had something to prove to the world, and I was not going to stop until I succeeded. My success would be my revenge, or so I thought. And so for most of my life, I believed Bullshift Number Two which is the belief that to get anything in life, you must compete fiercely for it.

The problem with this was that each time I succeeded by traditional definitions, I somehow seemed to end up right back at the beginning of the competitive cycle. Each time I achieved something I had previously viewed as substantial, that gratification was fleeting, and I was on to my next quest.

And strangely enough, with each success I found myself lacking: lacking time with those I loved, lacking energy, lacking deep, pure joy. Though I appeared happy on the outside, I lacked fulfillment, satisfaction, clarity, and peace on the inside. I was still out to prove something to the world—to the bullies—but I had no idea what it was. I was still seeking my ultimate revenge, and I believed it would come with greater and greater material success. I believed that I was in a race to acquire the most from the limited number of external resources the world had to offer, that I was in a race against time to reach the finish line. But what I didn’t realize then that I now know is that competition is far more harmful than I ever imagined, and it was my desire to acquire things that were ultimately getting in the way of becoming all I was meant to be.

With competition comes the poisonous feelings of envy and jealousy. These beasts are routinely fed and nourished, and they grow into seemingly untamable monsters. Envy and jealousy are destructive beliefs that often manifest in detrimental actions. And the scary thing is that there are very few people on the planet who do not possess these traits. It has become part of my message and my mission to shift this way of thinking.

And once I was able to shatter this old, false belief system with a new truth, my life took a dramatic shift.

Universal Truth 2: Competition is merely an illusion.

What I have come to discover is that competition only exists as a result of believing that there are a limited number of possibilities for each of us. In fact, most people believe that the number of people vying for opportunities exceeds the number of opportunities themselves, and therefore if someone else wins, they inevitably lose.

When you come to realize that each of us has unlimited potential, opportunities, and possibilities you will no longer operate on the competitive plane of existence. You will shed the feelings of envy and jealousy that had previously been poisoning you. And you will replace fear with love because you will no longer live in fear that someone else is going to win first, and you will instead be focused on how you can deliver value to the world!

There are an infinite number of opportunities available to everyone everywhere on the planet, and competition only exists because people falsely believe that everyone is vying for their piece of a very small pie.

Letting go of the competitive mindset has been one of the most liberating and freeing things I have ever done, and it has been a huge part of transforming my life, and I know it can be for you, too.

I hope the limiting beliefs you have most likely held for years and maybe even decades are beginning to lift away from your eyes and that you are starting to see more clearly than ever before. I hope you are excited about the abundant possibilities that lie ahead for you! I know I am.

Until next time my friends.

Sending much love and gratitude from me to you.

Cheers,

Russian roulette? I think not.

Russian roulette? I think not.

In my last post, I talked about how your very beliefs may be the things that have been preventing you from living an abundant life, and I shared with you what I call Life’s 5 Biggest Bullshifts.

So now, I want to take a deep dive into each bullshift and replace each one with a new universal truth so you can shed those limiting beliefs once and for all and start living the life you know you were meant to live.

Remember that Bullshift Number One is the belief that life is handed to you, and there is nothing you can do about it.

See, most people believe that their lives consist of a series of either good- or bad-luck events that they have very little, if any, control over, kind of like Russian Roulette. They go through each day as passengers, not captains, of their own ships of life reacting to situations that come their way day in and day out rather than creating and manifesting their desired outcomes.

Universal Truth 1: You have the power to create your own destiny.

When I first understood–I mean really understood–this universal truth, it was absolutely mind-blowing to me. You see, each of has an amazing power within that, when understood, gives us the amazing ability to create a life bigger and better than you ever thought possible. Each person comes into this life as an individual being who is merely a single expression of something much bigger, like a single wave that, although unique, is connected to the whole ocean. It is from this source that comes your inner power to design and live the life you have only dared to dream about before.

This was such a revolutionary idea for me. Charles Haanel says in his book The Master Key System, “You must first have the knowledge of your power, second the courage to dare, third the faith to do.” The “knowledge of your power” is such a powerful statement. And it’s true. Each of us has a power inside that enables us to tap into the very being from which we came. Each of us is able to access our divine spirit, our universal consciousness, where each of us originated. We are not separate from each other or from the universe. The universe wants to help us, wants us to succeed.

When you learn how to tap into your subconscious, you will come to know that it is with you wherever you go, because you are it, and it is you. With this knowledge will come the unwavering belief that you can manifest any reality you want, without apology, without exception.

You no longer have to take life as it comes. Rather, once you know how to use this magical power within, you will get to design life as you want it to be. You will get to start out with a blank canvas and a new set of paints and design a life =bigger and better than you ever thought possible. You will learn how to become all you were meant to be and you will be well on your way to living an abundant life.

Join me next time on Talking Shift where I will be taking a deep dive into Bullshift Number Two and will replace that myth with the second universal truth.

Until next time my friends.

Sending much love and gratitude from me to you.

Cheers,

Holy, Shift! What’s Preventing You From Living An Abundant Life? The Answer May Surprise You.

Holy, Shift! What’s Preventing You From Living An Abundant Life? The Answer May Surprise You.

When I set on on this journey of self-discovery to try to figure out why my own life was a series of massive ups followed by equally massive downs, I had no idea that the answer was right in front of me.

You see, for the majority of my life, my reality was shaped by my beliefs in a set of rules that dictated much of the outcomes I experienced. And what I have discovered is that these are the very same myths that so many other people walking around on this planet believe, too. They are the very myths that are holding so many people back from living the life of their dreams, the life they were truly meant to live. In fact, I bet these are are the very same things holding you back as well.

I call these Life’s 5 Biggest Bullshifts and it is quite likely that you have fallen prey to believing each of them, too. And it is your very belief in any one of them that may be preventing you from living an abundant life.

And it’s time to bust these bullshifts once and for all so you can learn exactly how to design, and live, a life bigger and better than you ever imagined. Let’s get started.

Bullshift Number One: Life is handed to you, and there is nothing you can do about it.

Most people believe that their lives consist of a series of either good- or bad-luck events that they have very little – if any – control over. They go through each day as passengers, not captains, of their own ships of life. They react to situations rather than creating and manifesting their desired outcomes. And I am here right now to call bullshift on this.

Bullshift Number Two: To get anything in life, you must compete fiercely for it.

Most people are led to believe that there are a limited number of opportunities available to each of us and so we must compete fiercely with one another to claim our fair share before someone else claims victory first. This too, my friends, is bullshift!

Bullshift Number Three: Don’t ask for more than your fair share in life, because there isn’t enough to go around.

This belief stems from the fact that somehow along the way, living a life of sacrifice, lack, and limitation has become noble. It’s as if sacrifice has mistakenly gotten confused with sharing or generosity. To dream big and want abundance in our lives is perceived as selfish and greedy. Bullshift again! Nothing could be further from the truth.

Bullshift Number Four: Your thoughts, feelings, and intentions have no impact on your present reality.

This is a big fallacy that most people fall victim to believing, and I am calling bullshift on this as well! In fact, overthrowing this belief is a critical step in learning how to use and harness your inner power to create the life of your dreams.

Bullshift Number Five: Never expect good things to happen, or you will jinx the outcome.

I have no idea how or why the world has become one superstitious ball of ridiculous jinxing, but it has. I know, because I lived in the jinx world for many years. So many people go around believing that the world is conspiring against them and not for them. And I am calling bullshift on all of this right now.

Now I bet that you have been nodding your head as you’ve been reading, right? You’ve never even considered that your belief in any one or combination of these bullshifts is what has been holding you back from living a life bigger and better than you ever imagined. But I am here to tell you that living your life according to any of these myths will ultimately prevent you from living an abundant life. So, over the course of the next few weeks, I am going to dive in deep to each one of these bullshifts and replace them with 5 new universal truths that will become the foundation for you to shift your reality from one of lack, limitation, and scarcity in any part of your life to one of more abundance than you ever thought possible. Sound exciting? It is! So stick with me and I will show you exactly how it’s done.

Sending much love and gratitude from me to you.
